Movie Review: Groundhog Day (1993)

Groundhog Day is a film I’ve been meaning to watch for a while, but never got around to. Well I finally got around to it and enjoyed it very much.

The premise is this: a weatherman relives the same day (Groundhog Day) over and over again. It’s a premise that’s been repeated over and over again (e.g. Stargate SG-1 and Edge of Tomorrow) but I think it was mainly popularized in this movie.

It’s a lighthearted movie with some serious parts, but mostly lighthearted. Lots of funny moments with a little romance thrown in. It even borders on science fiction in that it explores the psychology/philosophy of a man who must repeat the same day, from living a life without consequence to suicide in the hopes that this day will end.

Bill Murray is… Bill Murray. Not bad, but he didn’t win any Academy Awards.

Score: 6.5/10 Good movie. Good for a date night.
