Grocery Store Review: Dainobu

Details: Located at 36 W 56th St, New York, NY 10019, among other locations. The official site is http://www.dainobu.us/

Dainobu is a small, grocery store that primarily focuses on Japanese products. They have a variety of pre-packaged Japanese products from Japan as well as fresher products that they’ve made themselves.

Every day, it seems that they make a variety of microwavable dishes and lunch bentos like Japanese style mapo tofu, karage chicken over rice, and other standard, homestyle Japanese dishes. They generally range from around a few dollars below and few dollars above ten dollars.

These dishes aren’t bad and are competitively priced considering the area. What is unfortunate is that they are all served cold and refrigerated, even though they were likely made that same day. They have microwaves in the back if you need to use them.

Overall, this is a good place to get at relatively cheap meal in the area. I also like buying some packaged ramen or Japanese soft drinks occasionally. If you work in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit.
