TV Show Review: Rick and Morty, Season 3

Details: Aired in 2017 on Cartoon Network. Season three has ten episode that are each around twenty-two minutes long.

While season three is mostly more of the same, this season does succeed at being darker, have better production values, and is more action packed than either of the prior two seasons.

Rick and Morty is about a genius grandfather and his ordinary grandson and their adventures through space, time and dimensions. It’s a comedic show that dips its toes into high concept science fiction.

Season 3 is mostly more of the same. The stories are a little darker, but it’s still Rick and Morty going on adventures. There are still tons of jokes intermingled with a superficial exploration of science fiction questions.

The biggest differences are the budget. Animation quality has gone up. There are also a larger number of action scenes being drawn, which always seem to drain budgets.

Additionally, there were a number of notable guest stars on the show, something I always enjoy.

Overall, it’s another enjoyable season. If you enjoyed Rick and Morty before, you still will.

Score: 7/10
