Restaurant Review: Donburiya

Details: Located at 253 W 55th St, New York, NY 10019. The official site is http://www.donburiyany.com/

Donburiya is a Japanese restaurant in midtown Manhattan that is reasonably priced when compared to the other Japanese restaurants in the neighborhood.

The namesake here is the rice bowls covered with the entrée topping. I’ve had the unatama don (eel and egg for about fourteen dollars), yakitori ju (grilled chicken over rice, around twelve dollars), and the tonkotsu ramen (around eleven dollars, comes with an extra serving of ramen for free). Everything was good. It’s not amazing food, but it’s satisfactory.

The best deals here are their lunch specials. For under fifteen dollars, you can get their rice bowls with a soup and salad. Additionally, their only open from 12:00 PM to 2:30 during weekdays before opening at 5:30 PM for dinner service.

Overall, I enjoyed this place and recommend it if you’re looking for reasonably priced Japanese food in the midtown area.
