Alley 41 is a somewhat trendy Szechuan restaurant in Flushing. Szechuan is a region in China that mostly focuses on spicy food. Specifically, they have a lot of food that has that numbing type of spicy you get from a kind of peppercorn.
We ordered the pork wontons in house spicy sauce (cost about $6), sliced pork belly with cold noodles (cost about $12), braised tender beef with veggie and roasted chili (around $12), and the shredded dry beef with spicy sauce (about $16).
Don’t order the shredded dry beef… unless you want jerky. It’s actually just jerky. The wontons and braised beef were really spicy and numbing. Also very salty. The best thing was the sliced pork belly with noodles. It wasn’t that spicy and was served cold.
The interior is well designed. It’s a combination of wood and concrete. It works and is comfortable.
Service was fine.
Overall, if you like spicy, numbing food or Szechuan food, Alley 41 is a solid choice. I don’t like spicy or Szechuan flavors, so it was just okay for me.
