Restaurant Review: Red 58

What a shitty restaurant. Red 58 is the kind of restaurant that feels like it was opened by two frat brother with rich parents. One day, these two frat brother were sitting around and thought to themselves,” what if we open a bar/restaurant?” And then they did. But they didn’t know how to cook, so they hired a mutual friend who dropped out of culinary school and hired one of their Russian ex-girlfriends to be the waitress/bartender. Ask mommy and daddy for a little interior decorating investment and voilà, you have Red 58.

Food Truck Review: Metro Arepas

I came here interested in some arepas, but I found the arepas were small, like a child’s fist. Additionally, this place specializes in arepas with other fillings, like meats and stuff. An arepa that has more than just bread costs around eight dollars, which I thought was idiotic for the cost of an arepa, so I got a Venezuelan hot dog instead for four dollars. To my disappointment, their Venezuelan hot dog was just a hot dog filled with ketchup, mustard, mayo, a few potato chips and a little cheese.

Overall, this place sucked shit.

Restaurant Review: Printon 56

Printon 56 is your standard, no frills New York City lunch place for office workers. They have pizza, a hot station where you can get a meat entree with two sides, a sandwich station, and a salad station. Most things here cost somewhere around ten dollars. A slice of pizza costs two dollars and seventy-five cents I think.

Overall, the food here isn’t great. There’s a place to sit in the back of where they serve pizza. Prices aren’t great considering the quality of food. Chipotle still wins in terms of quality of food versus price, which makes this a place you should avoid unless you are desperate, have eaten everything else within a block radius and want to eat something different. Otherwise, avoid this place. Also worth mentioning is that I’ve had a slice of pizza here that literally made me sick and need to take a sick day.

Restaurant Review: Red Lobster

Not too long ago I went to a Red Lobster and found that every single thing I ordered was some of the shittiest food I’d ever had. Truly, Red Lobster is one of the shittiest places to eat in America. I can see the appeal if you live inland and have no access to seafood. However, if you don’t, there is almost no reason to ever visit this den of shitty food.

Food Stall Review: Shikoku Teriyaki Express

This is your standard chicken teriyaki place you’d expect to see in any reasonably sized American mall. What’s ironic is that this is mostly a Chinese mall with Chinese oriented businesses and the chicken teriyaki here is decidedly an American mall style. It’s about five to six dollars for chicken. Other options like beef or shrimp cost more. You get rice and vegetables and you can replace rice with noodles. It’s classic, American mall food in a Chinese mall. It’s not great, but I sometimes get the urge for it.

Restaurant Review: Asian Station

Asian Station is the kind of Americanized Asian restaurant that someone with a vague inkling of what “Asian” food is would enjoy, designed largely for Western palates. If you actually have concept and appetite for authentic “Asian” food, this place is grotesque. However, if you do not, this place likely isn’t bad and serves a kind of food many would find appealing.

Restaurant Review: Quantum Leap

Quantum Leap is essentially a compromise between me and me vegan friends. Some of them at least. Other vegan friends have questioned whether the food here is truly vegan and have since, never returned. As an omnivore, I could care less.

Restaurant Review: Indian King Biryani House

I normally don’t write any post for halal food carts, but this was identifiable enough to write something. Got the chicken over rice for five dollars, which was fine but better priced than most places by a dollar. Notable is that a lot of people waiting on the line with me got other stuff. For instance, they have a Chinese style chicken over rice and other biryanis. I think they use a different sauce for those. Those things seemed fairly popular, but they do cost extra, like eight or nine dollars.

Restaurant Review: Hibachi Express 1

Came here for a quick lunch. Got the chicken which came with rice and cooked vegetables. It’s pretty much the same as the chicken teriyaki you’d expect from the food court at a mall. Wasn’t great, but wasn’t terrible. Cost around eight to nine dollars. They also have beef, shrimp, and tofu if you want that. Portions were smaller than I’d have liked.

Came here for a quick lunch. Got the beef rice bowl for around nine dollars I think. It wasn’t great, but it was fast. They have some shitty sushi and noodles if you want that.
