Food Review: The Chick’n Shack from Shake Shack, Better than Chick-fil-A?

Details: Located at 600 3rd Ave., New York, NY 10016, among other locations. Official site is https://www.shakeshack.com/

At the beginning of this year, Shake Shack came out with their chicken sandwich. Although their press release gave a number of reasons why the burger place decided to make a chicken sandwich, the obvious reason was to compete with Chick-fil-A’s success. So how do the two compare?

Well, let’s go into the sandwich first. The Chick’n Shack consists of a battered, deep fried chicken breast, topped with pickles, shredded lettuce, and an herb mayo, all on their standard potato roll.

After eating the sandwich, I can easily say it is really good for a chicken sandwich. The bun is soft as always. I couldn’t tell if it was fried through on the spot, or if they just fried it to heat it up, but the chicken breast was hot and crispy. Again, really good. The herb mayo and pickles were, yet again, really good. Overall, it was a great sandwich.

As for whether it is better than Chick-fil-A, I actually like the Chick’n Shack far more. If you’d read my review of Chick-fil-A, then you’d know that it disappointed me. It tasted only slightly better than what you’d find at Wendy’s or McDonald’s in my opinion. Just in terms of temperature, the Chick’n Shack was better because the chicken breast came hot hotter and crispier than the Chick-fil-A sandwich. I also prefer the herb mayo to whatever’s on the Chick-fil-A sandwich.

Score: 6.5/10 Good chicken sandwich. Better than Chick-fil-A in my opinion. If you were to ask me what is the best fast casual chicken sandwich in New York City, I’d have to go with the Chick’n Shack.

Restaurant Review: Chick fil A (NYC)

Official site: http://www.chick-fil-a.com/

After hearing people rave about it, I finally went to Chick fil A. So, how was it?

Okay. It was just okay. Had a chicken sandwich with fries. Just okay. Don’t agree with the hype from other people. In my opinion, it was a little better than a chicken sandwich from Wendy’s. It’s fast food for crying out loud.

Score: 5/10 It was okay.
