Restaurant Review: Ong Ga Nae Korean BBQ

Details: Located at 936 South Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90006. I couldn’t find an official site so here’s the yelp site: https://www.yelp.com/biz/ong-ga-nae-korean-bbq-los-angeles

I came here for dinner on a Sunday I think. We ordered the Ong Ga Nae Special Combo B. It came with prime rib eye, prime beef brisket, boneless beef, marinated beef rib, and the pork belly. You could substitute the marinated beef rib for not marinated beef rib and the pork belly for beef tongue or chicken bulgogi. Altogether, it cost $99.99, not including tax and tip.

Restaurant Review: Sushistop

Details: Located at 5917 Franklin Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028. The official site is http://sushistop.com/

I first heard of Sushistop from the following video:

At the time, I didn’t think I’d be in Los Angeles at any time in the near future. I was wrong. And since I was in LA, I figured I should come give this place a try.

Sushistop is the ultimate compromise between cheap and good quality sushi. The majority of things on the menu are all $2.95. Around thirty to forty percent of the menu are priced higher, but just a few dollars more. In my opinion, it’s a good deal.

I ordered three things: the tuna special for that day (a piece of tuna, blue finned tuna, and third kind of tuna I can’t recall in nigiri form, costs $7.00), the baked mussels (four open shell baked mussels covered in a mayo sauce that they call “dynamite sauce,” costs $2.95), and the baked salmon roll (California roll topped with baked salmon and dynamite sauce, costs $2.95).

The nigiri was good, especially the blue finned tuna which was very fatty. The mussels were all right. My favorite thing, in addition to the blue finned tuna nigiri, was the baked salmon roll. It’s not particularly complex, but hot, sizzling salmon with that dynamite sauce was really good.

The interior was simple, but comfortable enough. All the waiters were very nice.

Overall, for around thirteen dollars, this was a good meal. I’d recommend it to anyone in the area who is in the mood for cheap sushi.
