Saigon Shack is a Vietnamese restaurant near New York University. The most important things to keep in mind with this restaurant is that they do not take reservations, they only seat when the entire party is present, they only take cash, the prices are surprisingly cheap, and the food is surprisingly good.

Hunan Kitchen of Grand Sichuan is a Sichuan restaurant that mostly caters to family style eating. That means communal dishes to share. They don’t really cater to individuals buying separate things. Accordingly, the menu is kind of expensive considering the type of food they’re serving.

Naked Crab is a fairly expensive seafood restaurant when compared to the other restaurants in Flushing. It mostly focuses on Cajun style seafood boils, but they also have a surprising number of higher end seafood dishes that cost a lot.

Alley 41 is a somewhat trendy Szechuan restaurant in Flushing. Szechuan is a region in China that mostly focuses on spicy food. Specifically, they have a lot of food that has that numbing type of spicy you get from a kind of peppercorn.

Bread and Butter is a place that largely caters to the working crowd in Manhattan. They have a couple of stations that make sandwiches, noodles, baked goods, and a buffet/salad bar.

Cocoron is a vegan noodle place. They have vegan and non-vegan items. They mostly focus on soba.
The space is small and cramped. Service was okay. The place was severely crowded when I went.
I ordered a bowl of Kake soba for around ten dollars. It was okay. I’m starting to realize that I either don’t like soba or that I’ve never had good soba before.
Overall, Cocoron reminds me of the stereotypical trendy noodle place that is all trendy-ness, no substance. It’s not terrible, but I don’t recommend anyone come here.

I came here for vegan brunch because… vegans.
We sat in a comfortable booth.
I had the cranberry apple french toast for fourteen dollars. It was okay.
Overall, vegan food is still pretty depressing. Worth mentioning is that this place is really popular and was packed when we got there, which was around lunch time.
